The 2025 Irish Open was a huge success as always. It is tradition that this doubles tournament is always held on St. Patrick's Day featuring Irish music, some of the best homemade reuben sandwiches, and plenty of good of times. Results:
A2 Doubles - Ruben Nava teamed up with his dad Phil Nava and steamrolled through their first two matches to make it to the finals. Their finals opponents played phenomenally and the Nava's couldn't quite keep up resulting in a 2nd place finish.
A1 Doubles - Class professors Toby Deutsch and Mark Keane teamed up in the A doubles to win two nail biters 21-20 to make it to the finals. Unfortunately, they also fell in the finals to the top seed despite them getting younger with Ruben Nava filling in for Keane in the finals match.
Open Doubles - Club coach Ben Van Arsdale teamed up with fellow East Sider Paul Schjetnan to win the Open division in three tight matches.
Congrats to all the UWM teams on their excellent showing!
Thanks to Shawn Linnell and the WAC for organizing and hosting this great event!
